Sustainability Leadership

The real estate sector plays an undeniable role in the climate emergency in particular as it relates to the ecological, social, and governance aspects of real estate. At Meraki we believe everyone has a role to play in a more sustainable future and the earlier we engage on the value chain the easier it is to mitigate risk and explore solutions to challenges that arise. We support our clients to understand that by taking a sustainable approach they can contribute to a more resilient and inclusive society, and positively impact communities and the natural environment. We have recently taken part in the Cambridge University Sustainability Leadership program for Sustainable Real Estate for the Build Environment and use this knowledge to genuinely elevate and transform brands through design and programming.

 

Community Resilience

Community collaboration is one of the key success factors in any development. The real estate sector and the built environment are co-dependent on the well-being of the society they serve and the natural environment in which they rest. Social impact and community are part of our DNA and our approach ensures that communities are engaged at early stages and involved in the creation of new spaces and facilities, particularly those designed to serve the wider community and affect their overall health and wellbeing. We believe ‘Community is Medicine’ and should be treated in a way that brings people together rather than driving people apart.

Nature Based Solutions

A nature-based approach will evaluate and include water management systems, green infrastructure, food production, the use of natural materials, and the use of SMART technology. Together they are collective approaches that contribute to a better-built environment and lead to future cost savings, increased brand reputation, a stronger attraction of talent, and heightened innovation and collaboration with industry experts. We help our clients bring awareness to these solutions and guide them towards making more sustainable choices and designing for longevity. We benchmarked against the Sustainable Development Goals creating foundational layers that integrate a committed approach to sustainability.

Meet the Founder

Lindsay Madden-Nadeau is a wellness consultant who spent the past 22 years working across the globe for some of the most prestigious hospitality leaders. Based in the South of France and working globally, Lindsay is a self-described industry disrupter, making it her mission to ensure each project has a strong differentiation and strategy at its heart. Her solid expertise and attention to detail comes from managing and opening over 75 spas and experiencing numerous yoga and meditation retreats and taking part in wellness related trainings. That combined with traveling to over 60 countries across the world, fuels her desire to grow within the wellness space, bringing full embodiment and authenticity to her projects.

Lindsay is the Vice-Chair of the Global Wellness Tourism Initiative by the Global Wellness Institute. She has been co-leading this research-led team that sets out to gain a deep understanding of the foundations that make a great Wellness Destination, the travelers' motivations, while promoting the value and opportunity in successfully integrating into an operational wellness strategy. 

She has had the honor to be selected as a judge for ten consecutive years for the World Spa & Wellness Awards, as well as being a contributor to several industry publications and a public speaker at some of the biggest events around the world, including the Global Wellness Summit, World Spa & Wellness, Professional Beauty, and Fit Summit making her a sought-after contributor within the wellness world

Lindsay’s broad experience includes 7 years as the Global Director of Wellbeing of Accor, as well as luxury brands such as Raffles, Fairmont, and Orient Express. Lindsay was leading the global well-being strategy starting from brand creation and programming to project management, design, and pre-opening. Having recently taken part in the Cambridge University Sustainability Leadership program for Sustainable Real Estate for the Build Environment, Lindsay uses this knowledge to genuinely elevate and transform brands through design and programming.
